#88: I walk into a store
You can truly have anything you want here
I come into a store. As I walk through the isles, I see things that I desire. I get something I can afford and it makes me happy. I tell myself: “I got that far in life!”
This X I cannot get because it’s too expensive. So I tell myself: “When I grow up and get rich, I will come back to the store and get 100 of these Xs. I will get anything I want.” If I don’t say this, I am disregarding my desire, I am not responding to my inner ambition. Yet, if I say this, I have just made myself very miserable. I just said that I am incomplete without X and so I am restless. I will always be restless because I will always be missing this or that. So what am I to do?
As I walk through the store, I tell myself: “You truly can have anything you want here. But do you really want it or are you distracted by the flashing lights of this store? For an ill-chosen desire leads to no more than an endless cycle of desires.“
* Thank you for your patience and messages! I am back to the game :)
