#68: Have I used my notes once?
Delaying understanding X till later, or never
I decided to review my journal yesterday. As I was leafing through the pages, I couldn’t even read most words. The drawings caught my attention, but most of the text I had little interest in reading. When I was writing these notes, I was full of hope that they would be valuable to me in the future.
The writing down of X perhaps enables a better understanding of X at the moment. Thinking back to all the piles of notes I have written in my life, I doubt their usefulness, though. The way I would learn is by restructuring my notes in some way, writing a new version, but never just reading old ones. Once something is written down, it seems too rigid and inflexible to get excited about it.
Writing X down in hope of future understanding is a waste of time. I neither understood X fully nor will I benefit from it in the future. So I just wondered to myself:
